Using a palette knife allows you to paint in a totally different way than when you use a brush.

If you've ever spread frosting on a cake, you have an idea of the textural possibilities when using a painting knife to create an oil painting. Deborah-Quinn Munson explains how you can achieve a variety of effects, from the sweeping strokes to refined details.

Art Olympia 2019

The Third International Art Competition is a biennial event discovering talented artists and supporting their art activities. Two dimensional artworks, including photography, will be accepted. A point-rating system is consistently used for all selections. 160 artworks of general and student categories will be winners and undergo a final review in Tokyo. The First Place winner will receive US$120,000. In addition, 1,000 artists will be featured on the Art Olympia website and in art magazines.

Press Conference will be held on November 16th at Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro in Japan. Many TV stations and Magazines will come to cover the interview.

Expert Jurors: Brett Littman, Chu Teh-I, Emmanuelle Lequeux, Zheng Lin, Hiroshi Senju, Toyomi Hoshina, Akiya Takahashi, Yuko Hasegawa, and Akiko Endo.
